Rx Verification

PRESCRIPTION VERIFICATION FOR U.S. RESIDENTS

Color contact lenses are Medical devices. The U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) both regulate contact lenses. Under U.S laws, contact lenses can only be sold on the valid prescription (Rx) of a licensed practitioner. Lenses without power also require a prescription.

The Fairness to Contact Lens Consumer Act (FCLCA) sets out the sales rules in the U.S. The FTC issued the Contact Lens Rule to enumerate the Act’s requirements. You can download the entire document in pdf format by clicking here . For More Information, please visit www.ftc.gov

The Rx is mandatory for two main reasons:

  1. Customers need to check that there are no contraindications to using contact lenses. Contact lenses must only be applied and used when the anatomy-functional conditions of the eyes permit it. In fact, this stage is crucial to avoid any future intolerance, irritation, or discomfort. Eye-care professionals will be able to recommend or not the use of contact lenses only after undergoing a careful examination.
  2. Contact lenses are not one size fits all. It is important for the customers to check with their Care Specialist the correct parameters suitable for their eyes before purchasing lenses, such as the diameter and the base curve.

THE PRESCRIPTION VERIFICATION PROCESS FOR CONTACT LENSES

Customers may provide us a with a valid prescription script by uploading it to your account, or we could verify directly with the prescriber.

Valid prescription upload

Customers can upload a prescription under their Just4kira account for the Just4kira’s team verification. If the Rx is not valid, as defined by the FTC regulations; we will have to phone-verify the prescription prior selling the lenses.

Phone verification

We have worked on the implementation of a phone verification system that is in compliance with the FCLCA rules. The customer provides us with his doctor details allowing us to submit a verification request to the chosen prescriber. In others words, as soon as the client places an order, his eye care provider office receives a call combining the required contact lens verification information. The prescriber has eight-business-hours to verify the given prescription. If the prescriber does not respond within the required time, we consider the prescription as verified, and we may dispatch the order.

EYE CARE SPECIALIST NOT LISTED

In the event, your eye care specialist does not appear on the list; please contact our customer service via the email. Please provide in the ticket the following information (*Optional) :

  • Doctor Name
  • Company/Store Name
  • Telephone Number
  • Business Address
  • *Website Link
  • *Email Address

Once your eye care practitioner has been entered , we will contact you back and you will be able to place your order.

FOR EYE CARE PROVIDERS

Prescription Verification

As the owners and operators of Just4kira.com, we take the prescription verification requirements set out in the Federal Trade Commission’s “Contact Lens Rule” and the “Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act” very seriously.

In an attempt to verify the prescription of a customer who has placed an order on one of our contact lens stores, your offices may have received an automated phone call. These verification requests are required of us by law.

The law requires us to allow eight business hours for your reply. In the event of not receiving a response within the eight hours, the client's order will be dispatched.

Please note: If the patient’s prescription information is valid as mentioned in the automated phone message, then you do not need to reply. Only reply if the patient’s prescription information is incorrect, the patient’s prescription has expired, or it is invalid by any other means.

In case the prescription is not confirmed, please contact us on: info@Just4kira.com.

Due to the high volume of orders processed daily and the time constraints involved in providing the best possible buying experience to our mutual customers, we have to make use of an automated phone call service provided to us by a third party.
